Museo San Pietro Opens in Colle di Val d'Elsa
On March 18, 2017, the Museo San Pietro opened in Colle di Val d'Elsa, a town between Florence and Siena, after nearly twenty years of closure. The museum combines sacred art with modern and contemporary works, merging the collections of the Museo Civico, Museo Diocesano, and the Conservatorio di San Pietro. It includes donations from the Walter Fusi and Romano Bilenchi collections, featuring works by Ottone Rosai, Moses Levy, and Mino Maccari, as well as numerous volumes from Bilenchi's library. The museum's narrative intertwines the city's religious and political history. It was developed with support from the Arcidiocesi di Siena, the Comune di Colle di Val d'Elsa, the Fondazione Musei Senesi, and other public and private partners. The exhibition uses interactive stations with hypertextual content to provide deeper context. Additionally, the Museo Archeologico Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli is undergoing renovation, and the Museo del Cristallo is being prepared for a future relaunch.
