Museo Riso di Palermo Announces 2016/2017 Season with Focus on Sicilian and International Artists

The Museo Riso di Palermo, part of the Polo Museo Regionale d’arte Moderna e Contemporanea, launched its 2016/2017 exhibition season on October 5. The season opened with a show dedicated to Michele Canzoneri, featuring works on paper, sculptures, sketches, diaries, and installations. Future exhibitions will include Emilio Isgrò, Turi Simeti, and international artist Marion Greenston. Director Valeria Li Vigni discussed the museum's challenges, including a lack of allocated budget for the year, despite a 20% increase in the artistic collection through donations from artists like Cossyro, Catalano, and the heirs of Samonà, Bianchi, and Nunzio. The museum aims to improve communication, as many visitors were unaware of its existence during summer concerts and dance-theater events. The museum also integrates the D'Aumale museum in Terrasini and Palazzo Belmonte Riso. Funding comes from sponsors, regional assessments, and European projects, with no direct budget this year.
