Museo Quarto Platano to Open at Villa Bertelli in Forte dei Marmi
A new museum focused on the Quarto Platano literary and artistic circle's history is set to launch at Villa Bertelli in Forte dei Marmi. This project, spearheaded by Milan's Fondazione Corrente—established in 1978 by Lidia Treccani De Grada and Ernesto Treccani—in partnership with Fondazione Villa Bertelli, will utilize 175 square meters on the second floor of the late-19th-century villa, which has been a cultural hub for two decades. The inaugural room will honor Arturo Dazzi (1881-1966), featuring works donated by his family. Dazzi, who moved to Forte dei Marmi in 1925, is recognized for his monumental art and collaborations with Marcello Piacentini. The exhibition will also showcase pieces from artists like Massimo Campigli and Giorgio de Chirico, with approximately seventy works sourced from private collections. Curated by Studio Jam Architettura of Milan, the museum aims to open by Easter 2024. The Quarto Platano, located under the platano trees at Caffè Roma, served as a gathering spot for early 20th-century creatives, including Enrico Pea and Eugenio Montale.
