Museo Poldi Pezzoli opens new Orangerie and garden to the public in Milan
The Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan has unveiled a new Orangerie spanning 100 square meters, crafted by Square Garden and financed by engineer Mario Franzini. This addition grants the public access to the museum's historic garden, which overlooks the remains of an 18th-century orchard on Via Manzoni. Mayor Giuseppe Sala commended the Orangerie for enhancing the museum's allure. Director Annalisa Zanni referred to it as "a gift for Milan," marking the bicentennial of Count Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli's birth. Established in 1881, the museum features 5,000 artworks from the Middle Ages to the present, including significant rooms and a history of bomb damage from 1943. It also offers educational initiatives and temporary exhibitions, such as "Nicolas Party: Triptyced" running until June 2022.
