Museo Novecento's referendum names 'time' as 2020's top desire
On December 31, 2019, the Museo Novecento in Florence held a mock election inviting 1,000 visitors to vote for their 'desire of the year' from a list of ten paired aspirations. The initiative, part of the F-Light Christmas event promoted by the city and organized by MUS.E, was conceived by museum director Sergio Risaliti. Ballots were counted days later, revealing 'Più tempo, più passioni' (More time, more passions) as the winner with 141 votes. Other top desires included 'Più cura, più rispetto' (128 votes), 'Meno sprechi, più benessere' (107), and 'Più solidarietà, più inclusione' (106). The least popular was 'Più politica, più democrazia' (28). Risaliti noted that each pair was designed to provoke reflection on interconnections, such as security linked to inequality or care linked to respect. The winning desire will inspire a future special project at the museum.
