Museo Novecento Firenze unveils fall 2020 program with Henry Moore and Mc Arthur Binion
Sergio Risaliti, director of Museo Novecento in Florence, presented the museum's fall 2020 program in an interview with Artribune. The program includes four new exhibition projects starting late September featuring Andrea Francolino, Lori Lako, Irene Montini, and Rocco Gurrieri. In October, the museum will host the first Italian museum solo show of Mc Arthur Binion, an American painter known for his human rights activism. November brings a major Henry Moore exhibition of drawings, prints, and sculptures, marking the artist's return to Florence about 50 years after his historic 1972 show at Forte di Belvedere, organized in collaboration with the Henry Moore Foundation. December features a retrospective of Arturo Martini drawn from the permanent collection. Other initiatives include Match, the first festival on performance; a quarterly museum journal; and a curatorial course with the University of Florence. The museum is also organizing a show in Livorno from late October, presenting 100 masterpieces of early 20th-century Italian art from the Della Ragione and Iannaccone collections at the Museo della Città. Risaliti emphasized sustainability, scientific quality, and cultural openness as guiding principles, expressing hope for greater public investment in art's social role and concern about a return to spectacle-driven entertainment.
