Museo Novecento Firenze Launches Summer Cinema in the Cloister

Museo Novecento in Florence has inaugurated the new season of Cinema nel Chiostro, an outdoor cinema in the museum's cloister. The initiative, in collaboration with Spazio Alfieri and M.Arte a.p.s., is part of the Estate Fiorentina program. Director Sergio Risaliti announced the summer arena, with about 130 seats, will feature art-house films, premieres, and screenings until September 6. The venue is the historic Spedale delle Leopoldine in Piazza Santa Maria Novella. The program includes award-winning films such as Alcarras (Golden Bear at Berlinale), Belfast, Licorice Pizza, Compartment No. 6 (Cannes Jury Prize 2021), and Drive My Car (Oscar for Best International Feature). Italian titles include Esterno Notte by Marco Bellocchio, a documentary on Ennio Morricone by Giuseppe Tornatore, and Le voci sole by Andrea Brusa and Marco Scotuzzi featuring Giovanni Storti. Documentaries cover Van Gogh, Tintoretto, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and Fire of Love about French volcanologists. A special tribute to Pier Paolo Pasolini on his centenary on August 9 includes an interview with Ascanio Celestini curated by Stefano Fabbri in collaboration with Music Pool, and the film Centoventi contro Novecento by Alessandro Scillitani about a football match reconciling Bernardo Bertolucci and Pasolini.
