Museo Marino Marini launches Playable Museum Award with €10,000 grant
The Museo Marino Marini in Florence, closed until spring 2018 for HVAC work, has launched the first edition of the Playable Museum Award, an international call for projects that use gaming and technology to reimagine museum experiences. The initiative is led by Fabio Viola, the first Italian to rank second globally among gamification designers, known for creating Father and Son, the world's first video game produced by an archaeological museum (MANN in Naples). The award, open from January 15 to March 31, 2018, invites creatives worldwide—artists, designers, architects, developers, writers, scientists, and more—to submit innovative proposals. A jury of international experts will select the winner, who will receive a €10,000 grant and mentorship support. The winner will be announced at the museum's reopening in spring. Patrizia Asproni, president of the museum, stated that the museum aims to become an innovation hub and think tank, collaborating with international leaders, cultural innovators, and futurologists to rethink the museum and its spaces. The award is organized by the cultural association TuoMuseo, chaired by Viola, together with the museum.
