Museo Marino Marini in Florence closes for maintenance with packed September program

The Museo Marino Marini in Florence will close in October 2018 for maintenance work, but before that it hosts a dense September program of talks and conferences. Three series of events—What's Next, Director's Cut, and Contemporary Art Hates You—address digital culture, the state of contemporary art in Italy, and museum management. On September 12, Jeffrey Schnapp, director of metaLAB at Harvard University and CEO of Piaggio Fast Forward, opens What's Next with a lecture titled 'La sorte dei saperi nel 21esimo secolo' covering big data, networks, and participatory models; he also presents FuturPiaggio, an art object project about Piaggio's design history. Contemporary Art Hates You features discussions on contemporary art in Italy: September 15 with Angelo Crespi and Stefano Monti, September 19 with Francesco Bonami and Sergio Risaliti, September 28 with Ludovico Pratesi and Arturo Galansino. Director's Cut offers behind-the-scenes museum management talks: September 18 with Gianfranco Maraniello (president of AMACI and director of MART Rovereto), September 25 with Fabio Cavallucci (director of Museo Pecci Prato). The museum will reopen in 2018 with new collections and exhibitions.
