Museo Madre 2016/2017 Season Focuses on Italian Art with Fabio Mauri and Gian Maria Tosatti

The Museo Madre in Naples opens its 2016/2017 exhibition season on October 3, 2016, with a focus on Italian art. The season begins with the acquisition of Cesare Accetta's video installation "In Luce" (on view until November 28), which inaugurates the new Project room on the ground floor and continues the museum's collection expansion. From November 26 to March 6, the museum presents "Fabio Mauri. Retrospettiva a luce solida," a retrospective organized with Studio Fabio Mauri featuring over 100 works, installations, actions, and documents, complementing a concurrent retrospective at GAMeC Bergamo. From December 17 to March 20, the museum revisits Gian Maria Tosatti's "Sette Stagioni dello Spirito," a multi-year project (2013–2016) promoted by Fondazione Morra with support from Galleria Lia Rumma. Director Andrea Viliani emphasizes the museum's role as an active archive of art in Campania, with projects like "Per_formare una collezione. Per un archivio dell'arte in Campania" continuing in 2017 by commissioning young artists. All 2016 exhibitions are produced in-house, while 2015 and 2017 involve co-productions. Viliani aims to strengthen the museum's research function and international outreach for Italian art exhibitions.
