Museo Ferragamo debuts world-first Dolby Atmos audioguides for visually impaired

digital · 2026-04-26

On June 28, 2025, the Museo Ferragamo in Florence introduced the first-ever immersive audioguides designed for visually impaired guests, utilizing Dolby Atmos technology. This project, in collaboration with UICI and Libero Accesso, includes tactile reproductions of shoes and a tactile map. Voice actors Leonardo Torrini and Elia Nichols lent their talents, while Gianluigi Di Costanzo conceptualized the Dolby Atmos experience. Bloomberg Philanthropies played a role in integrating Museo Ferragamo into the Bloomberg Connects app, which features content from the "Salvatore Ferragamo 1898-1960" exhibition. Additionally, since 2024, the museum has provided guided tours in Italian Sign Language (LIS). Director Stefania Ricci highlighted the institution's dedication to innovation and inclusivity, including a Vimeo channel launched in March 2025 for Apple Vision Pro.
