Museo Egizio di Torino opens for special curator-led visits during renovation
The Museo Egizio in Turin is undergoing a major renovation for its bicentennial, designed by OMA. The museum is closed to the public from June 17 to July 12, 2024, but offers special "Passeggiata col curatore" visits from June 25 to July 12, where limited groups of 25 can see the spaces during construction. The project, funded with €23 million, includes a new glass and steel roof over the internal courtyard (Piazza Egizia), a new Egyptian garden, an immersive room, restoration of the Temple of Ellesija, and reinstallation of the Gallery of Kings. Director Christian Greco, whose term ends in June 2025, is being courted by the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano.
