Museo di Capodimonte launches virtual tour of Vincenzo Gemito exhibition
The Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples has launched a virtual tour of its exhibition 'Gemito, dalla scultura al disegno', originally scheduled to open to the public on March 19, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the museum closed like all cultural institutions, but inaugurated the show online. A fifteen-minute video by co-curator Carmine Romano reveals one hundred works by Vincenzo Gemito displayed in the museum's rooms. The video tour is preceded by a text from the other curator, Jean-Loup Champion, who presents Gemito as an artist, man, and eternal 'scugnizzo' (Neapolitan street urchin) at heart. The exhibition explores Gemito's work from sculpture to drawing. The virtual visit is available on the museum's website.
