Museo del Prado Launches 'A Work, a Story' Exhibition Format
The Museo del Prado in Madrid has introduced a new exhibition format titled 'A Work, a Story', centered on José Aparicio's 1818 painting 'The Year of Hunger in Madrid'. The format, inspired by Umberto Eco's concept of a museum dedicated to a single artwork, aims to encourage deeper contemplation and understanding of art history. Director Miguel Falomir stated the goal is to prompt viewers to reflect on often-overlooked aspects of art history. The painting, one of the museum's most acclaimed and controversial works since its opening in 1819, is temporarily returning to the Prado for this initiative.
