Museo del Gioiello in Vicenza Reopens with New Installation
The Museo del Gioiello in Vicenza, Italy, has unveiled its second edition (2017-2018) with a new installation curated by ten international experts. Located in the Basilica Palladiana, the museum first opened in 2014 and has since attracted 34,000 visitors. Director Alba Cappellieri stated that the museum aims to inform, entertain, and offer new perspectives on jewelry. The new display features approximately 400 pieces, selected by curators including Glenn Adamson (director of the Museum of Arts and Design, New York), Nicolas Bos (CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels), critic and collector Helen Drutt English, anthropologist Cristina Del Mare, art historian Alessandra Possamai, Stefano Piaggi (director of the Anna Piaggi Archive), architect and designer Marco Romanelli, author Paola Venturelli, and designer Odo Fioravanti. The centerpiece is Giampiero Bodino's "Rosa dei Venti" (Compass Rose), chosen by Cappellieri to represent Italian jewelry's beauty and craftsmanship. The museum is one of the few in the world dedicated exclusively to jewelry and the first in Italy. It opens to the public on December 17.
