Museo Dario Fo e Franca Rame alla Rocca Costanza di Pesaro

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

A museum dedicated to Dario Fo and Franca Rame will be established in the Rocca Costanza fortress in Pesaro, Italy. The project, which began as a campaign in spring 2021, was formalized through agreements between the Agenzia del Demanio, the Ministry of Culture, and the Municipality of Pesaro. The 13th-century fortress, commissioned by Costanzo Sforza and formerly used as a prison, will be renovated with €2.35 million from the Piano Strategico 'Grandi Progetti Beni Culturali', plus €5.4 million previously allocated, €3.6 million from the Agenzia del Demanio, and €400,000 from the city. The museum will also host events for the Rossini Opera Festival and house the State Archives. Mayor Matteo Ricci emphasized the strategic importance of regenerating the site, transforming a place of confinement into a space for creativity and culture, ahead of Pesaro's role as Italian Capital of Culture in 2024.
