Museo d'Inverno: Italy's smallest museum atop a medieval fountain in Siena

Perched atop a medieval fountain in Siena, the Museo d'Inverno (Md'I) is one of Italy's smallest museums. Its unique curatorial model invites artists to select works from their own private collections by other artists, rather than exhibiting their own creations. The museum's mission, as stated in its project description, is to explore unpublished or unofficial art histories and to facilitate a more timely and appropriate engagement with art. Additionally, the Diòspero project commissions each invited artist to design a site-specific element that transforms the museum's aesthetic or function, gradually building a permanent collection. A newly released video captures moments from 2016 to the present, featuring contributions from notable artists including Maurizio Nannucci, Miltos Manetas, Luca Pancrazzi, Nathalie and Piero Sartogo, Luigi Presicce, Alfredo Pirri, Alessandra Spranzi, Riccardo Guarneri, and Michelangelo Consani.
