Museo Civico Duilio Cambellotti reopens in Latina after renovation

institutional · 2026-04-27

The Museo Civico Duilio Cambellotti in Latina has reopened after extensive renovations funded by a grant from the Regione Lazio's cultural heritage enhancement program. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mayor Damiano Coletta, Prefect Maurizio Falco, and Regional Cabinet Chief Albino Ruberti, who highlighted the €21 million regional investment. The museum is dedicated to the multifaceted artist Duilio Cambellotti (1876-1960), whose collection includes sculptures, temperas, woodcuts, ceramics, books, medals, posters, and documents reflecting his connection to the Pontine region. Notable works include "Le mille e una notte," "Le grazie e le virtù dell'acqua," and the "Fata" stained glass from La Casina delle Civette at Villa Torlonia. The renovation added a refreshment area, bookshop, cultural information desk, and reading/educational spaces. A new visual identity, logo, and social media presence on Facebook and Instagram have been developed. The museum features a Li-Fi Zone using LED light for data transmission, allowing visitors to access additional content via smartphone. Councilor for Culture Silvio Di Francia stated the goal is to place the museum at the center of the city and drive renewal of local institutions. A competition has been announced for the architectural and functional redevelopment of the former Opera Nazionale Combattenti complex in Piazza del Quadrato.
