Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga adds 33 works to Google Arts & Culture in gigapixel format

The Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga has expanded its digital presence by adding 33 works from its permanent collection to Google Arts & Culture. These pieces were digitized using Google's Art Camera in gigapixel format, offering ultra-high resolution for detailed study. The project also includes 20 reports on these works; the first, on Hermen Anglada-Camarasa's "Baile gitano" (c. 1914-1921), is already available, allowing users to explore its data, history, and anecdotes. Other reports on works by Zurbarán, Sorolla, Fortuny, Madrazo, Casas, and Regoyos will be released in the coming months. The museum first joined the initiative in 2014 (then Google Art Project), making 62 pieces available in high resolution and one in gigapixel: "La buenaventura" by Julio Romero de Torres (1920). The agreement also included Google Street View of the museum interior, which has now been updated. Google Arts & Culture serves over 3,000 cultural institutions in nearly 100 countries.
