Museo Bagatti Valsecchi launches crowdfunding for lighting renovation

Museo Bagatti Valsecchi in Milan, a historic house museum, has launched a crowdfunding campaign called 'Illumina il Museo' in partnership with Libreria Bocca, Italy's oldest active bookstore. The initiative aims to fund a new lighting system designed by architect Margherita Suss, replacing the original late-19th-century electric lights with over 300 iGuzzini LED projectors (3000K, CRI 90) to enhance the Renaissance and 19th-century collections while preserving the historic atmosphere. The museum, founded by brothers Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi in the late 1800s, was acquired by Regione Lombardia in 1975 and opened to the public in 1994. Under director Antonio D'Amico (since late 2023), the museum now hosts temporary exhibitions, music, and tea talks. Donations of €200 or more receive a book on Libreria Bocca's history, which has operated since 1775 and is currently run by the Lodetti family. The campaign is hosted on GoFundMe.
