Museo Arqueológico Nacional Launches First Young Poetry Contest

The Museo Arqueológico Nacional (MAN) in Madrid has announced its first young poetry competition, the I Certamen de Poesía Joven 'El Parnaso del MAN', as part of a program linking archaeology and poetry from 2026 to 2027. Open to individuals aged 16 to 35, participants must submit a single original, unpublished poem in Spanish, inspired by a permanent collection piece, a past culture represented, a historical figure, or the museum itself. Poems can be sonnets, romances, odes, hymns, or free verse, up to 25 lines. AI-generated works are banned. Submissions are accepted via email until June 5, 2026. The winner receives a private visit with a companion on a closed day, a museum shop gift pack, a diploma, and their poem displayed in the permanent exhibition as an audio recording. The jury is chaired by the museum director and includes a diffusion department member and a young poet. The winner is announced the week of June 15, 2026, with an award ceremony the week of June 22, 2026.
