Museion Bolzano 2020 Program: Female Voices and International Collaborations

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Museion Bolzano has announced its 2020 exhibition program, continuing its focus on female artists and international collaborations. The season opens on February 14 with 'Bestiario de Lengüitas' by Argentine artist Mercedes Azpilicueta, curated by Virginie Bobin, in partnership with CentroCentro Madrid and CAC Brétigny. In spring, Karin Sander will present a project challenging audience expectations. October features a retrospective of Sonia Leimer. On September 11, a collection show curated by Erling Kagge will bring works from over 30 Nordic and German artists. Italian art is represented through the ongoing 'Intermedia' exhibition from the Archivio di Nuova Scrittura, the group show 'unlearning categories' focusing on South Tyrolean creativity, and a special project by Cristian Chironi. The museum is primarily funded by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, with support from Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano and the Förderverein. Outgoing director Letizia Ragaglia highlights the museum's role as a place of resistance, citing shows on Carla Lonzi and Keren Cytter in 2019.
