Musei Reali di Torino Reopen June 2 with VR Platform and Musical Short

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

On June 2, Italy's Republic Day, the Musei Reali di Torino will reopen to the public alongside the Museo Egizio, Museo Nazionale del Cinema, Museo Accorsi-Ometto, and PAV-Parco Arte Vivente. The royal complex includes Palazzo Reale, Armeria, Cappella della Sindone, the first floor of Galleria Sabauda, and the Turin section of Museo di Antichità. Director Enrica Pagella noted that during lockdown the museum team maintained security and discovered new digital opportunities. The reopening coincides with the launch of èreale, an online platform offering virtual reality thematic tours of spaces and collections. Content was produced in collaboration with MYBOSSWAS, a multidisciplinary creative studio from Turin that has worked with Venice and Locarno film festivals, MAXXI Rome, Bordeaux Biennale, and Museo del Novecento Milan. A launch video titled "Nasce: è Reale" is a three-minute musical short created by director Giorgio Ferrero and cinematographer Federico Biasin, known for the award-winning film "Beautiful Things" produced by the Venice Biennale. The video features dancers, acrobats, fencers, and opera singers performing in empty museum halls, unable to touch but conveying empathy and beauty.
