Musei Reali di Torino opens new exhibition space Sale Palatine

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Musei Reali di Torino inaugurates a new temporary exhibition space, Sale Palatine, spanning over 600 square meters on the ground floor of the Galleria Sabauda. The space will host exhibitions of ancient art and archaeology, complementing the permanent collections. The inaugural show features 93 graphic works by Giovan Battista Piranesi (1720–1778), on loan from the Fondazione Giorgio Cini and the Museo di Roma Palazzo Braschi, organized by Associazione MetaMorfosi. The exhibition includes a 3D video experience of Piranesi's Carceri series. Director Annamaria Bava noted that the Galleria Sabauda had long awaited a space for temporary exhibitions. Starting December 15, a new permanent installation titled 'Un’altra armonia: Maestri del Rinascimento in Piemonte' will also open on the same floor. Director Enrica Pagella highlighted that the new space fosters collaborations, with upcoming 2018 exhibitions on Guercino (June) and Antoon van Dyck (November), co-organized with Associazione MetaMorfosi, Musei Capitolini, and Arthemisia.
