Musée Postal Reopens with Exhibition on Workwear History
The Musée Postal in Paris has reopened with a new visual identity and a return to its 1946 name, 'musée Postal'. Its first exhibition under this rebranding, 'Sous toutes les coutures. Le vêtement au travail', explores the history of workwear from uniforms to protective clothing. Curated by Elodie Goëssant and Didier Filoche, the show features 420 pieces including archival objects and artworks. It traces how women lacked tailored work clothes until the 1970s, often wearing a simple armband and a cap borrowed from men's attire. The exhibition highlights the shift from authority to commercial logic in the 1960s-70s, with airlines like those collaborating with Christian Dior in the 1970s. Later, administrations such as RATP, police, and SNCF turned to couturiers like Guy Laroche and Balmain. By the 2010s, SNCF and La Poste preferred brands like Armor-Lux for both design and production. The show runs from April 8 to September 22, 2026, at 34 Boulevard de Vaugirard, Paris.
