Musée Jacquemart-André to Host Major Tintoret Retrospective in 2026

exhibition · 2026-05-04

From September 11, 2026, to January 24, 2027, the Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris will host "Éternel Tintoret," a comprehensive retrospective dedicated to Jacopo Robusti, more commonly known as Tintoretto (1518/1519-1594). This marks the first time a French exhibition will encompass his entire artistic journey. Born in Venice, Tintoretto is believed to have honed his skills in Titian's workshop before establishing his own studio in 1538. Renowned for his dynamic style and swift brush techniques, he produced notable pieces such as the Miracle of the Slave (1548) and the grand Paradis (from 1588). From 1564 to 1588, he served as the official painter for the Scuola Grande di San Rocco. The exhibition will also examine his impact on artists including Ingres, Delacroix, and Cézanne.
