Musée du Papier Peint in Rixheim Reopens with New Display

The Musée du Papier Peint in Rixheim, Alsace, has reopened after a major renovation of its collections, featuring a new hang titled 'Une collection, trois points de vue'. Housed in the former commanderie of the Teutonic Order, the museum traces three centuries of Western wallpaper history, from 18th-century dominoté papers to contemporary designs. The collection includes archives, catalogs, samples, and wallpapers from the historic Zuber & Cie manufactory, which has operated on site since 1797. Visitors can see 19th- and 20th-century printing machines and a spectacular Zuber panoramic view of Switzerland. The museum, opened in 1983 and labeled 'Musée de France', showcases the evolution of decorative arts, techniques, and tastes.
