Musée d'Art et de Culture Soufis MTOTM Opens in Paris Suburb with Contemporary Exhibition

institutional · 2026-04-22

The Musée d'Art et de Culture Soufis MTOTM (MACS MTOTM) is set to open on September 28 in Chatou, and it’s the very first museum dedicated exclusively to Sufi art and culture. Located in a charming 19th-century mansion overlooking the Île des Impressionnistes, it features a permanent collection that showcases items from the 19th century to today, including sculptures, textiles, music, calligraphy, manuscripts, and stunning ceramic and mirror mosaics. French scenographers Atelier Maciej Fiszer and architects Ducatillion Gimel designed the space. The inaugural exhibition, "Un Ciel intérieur," curated by Alexandra Baudelot, will present works from seven contemporary artists, many created just for the museum. It aims to blend traditional Sufi practices with contemporary art while offering a serene garden for meditation and community activities.
