MUSE Trento opens 'Città a misura d'ape' exhibition on urban bees

The MUSE science museum in Trento, designed by Renzo Piano, launched its 'Città a misura d'ape. Alla ricerca di possibili equilibri' exhibition on September 1, 2023, running until October 15. Part of the 'Wild City' series started in spring 2023, the show explores human-animal relations in urban settings. It features photographs by Luca Mazzocchi and Nicola Orempuller in the museum garden, focusing on social and solitary bees in cities. The exhibition addresses urban greenery, pollination, bee organization, and survival challenges, offering practical tips for creating insect hotels and enhancing biodiversity on balconies and gardens. MUSE has long promoted pollinator awareness, including an insect 'grand hotel' in its vegetable garden and the BeeTrento project monitoring environmental quality through pollen analysis by honeybees. The free-admission show highlights threats from pesticides, pollution, and climate change, and showcases sustainable urban planning solutions adopted by Italian cities to support bees.
