Murano Illumina il Mondo 2025: Contemporary Art Meets Venetian Glass Tradition

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The third edition of Murano Illumina il Mondo, promoted by the Comune di Venezia and The Venice Glass Week with support from the Camera di Commercio di Venezia e Rovigo, presents contemporary chandeliers created by international artists in collaboration with master glassmakers from Murano. The works are displayed under the arches of Procuratie Vecchie in Piazza San Marco. Participants include Lucio Bubacco with Vetreria 3 Artistico Lampadari, Simone Crestani and Joana Vasconcelos with Berengo Studio, Michela Cattai with Simone Cenedese, and Luca Nichetto with Barovier & Toso, alongside Salviati, Effetre, Seguso Gianni, and the Scuola Abate Zanetti. Notable works include Michela Cattai's Trama di Luce, inspired by lagoon wave motion, Joana Vasconcelos's Cuore Infinito, and Simone Crestani's Primavera d'Oriente, inspired by 1920s models. The project highlights the dialogue between ancient craftsmanship and contemporary artistic research, emphasizing the transformative power of glass as a material that reflects, absorbs, and reinvents light.
