Muraless Art Hotel Opens in Verona with 94 Rooms Painted by 50 Street Artists

The Muraless Art Hotel, a four-star business and bleisure hotel, has opened in Verona's southern district, eight kilometers from the historic center, near the fairgrounds and highway. Housed in the former Hotel Cristallo, the project is curated by art critic Chiara Canali in collaboration with Milan's Deodato Arte gallery and Andrea Zamengo (Chill Surrealist). Fifty national and international street artists painted murals on the facade, common areas, and walls of 94 rooms themed around Made in Italy sectors: wine, opera, cinema, motors, art, architecture, design, history, science, food, fashion, and music. The hotel aims to be a 360-degree temple of street art and a museum dedicated to urban art and its Italian protagonists. Notable among the artists is French street artist Mr. Brainwash (Thierry Guetta, born 1966 in Garges-lès-Gonesse), who gained fame through his collaboration with Banksy on the 2010 documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop. Guetta created a large mural on the hotel's facade. The hotel's inauguration is scheduled for March 10.
