Mural by CamuffoLab and SIGNS inaugurates first Milano Graphic Festival in Certosa District
A large mural titled 'Quando la città cambia tu guarda i suoi colori' by CamuffoLab and SIGNS has been completed on the external walls of La Forgiatura in Certosa District, Milan. The project is part of a broader urban regeneration effort in the city's periphery, transforming the former industrial zone into an innovation district. The mural, which graphically represents architectural elements and moving city images, was commissioned by SIGNS, an observatory on visual design involving over 100 Italian designers and studios. The inauguration also marks the announcement of the first edition of the Milano Graphic Festival (MGF), a diffused festival dedicated to graphic design, illustration, and visual cultures. Organized by SIGNS and communication agency h+, curated by Francesco Dondina, the festival will take place from March 25 to 27, 2022, across Milan. Key hubs include Certosa District and BASE Milano, with events at La Triennale, ADI Design Museum Compasso d'Oro, Castello Sforzesco, Società Umanitaria, Mudec, MUBA, and Casa degli Artisti. The festival will feature exhibitions, workshops, talks, lectures, studio visits, and installations. A temporary creative space called Certosa Graphic Village (3,000 sqm) will host designers under 30 working on urban graphics projects, alongside talks with Italian and international designers. Dondina stated that visual design 'contributes to building the culture and identity of a country.'
