other · 2026-04-26

From December 16 to 23, 2025, and extending until January 31, 2026, Genoa hosted a theatrical version of Haruki Murakami's 'Sputnik Sweetheart' (known in Italian as 'La ragazza dello Sputnik', Einaudi, 2001, translated by Giorgio Amitrano), in partnership with Museo d'Arte Orientale E. Chiossone. Directed by Francesco Biagetti, born in 1997 and the founder of Collettivo Aruanda, the production features set design by Aurora Canepari. The narrative centers on an unnamed teacher (K.) and the aspiring writer Sumire, delving into their connections. Offstage characters don origami cat masks. The museum, established in 1905, boasts Italy's most extensive collection of Japanese art, with four prints from 1814–1869 exhibited at Teatro Gustavo Modena. Ticket holders can enjoy discounts and tours. Article by Laura Bevione.
