MUNCH Triennale 2025 Announces 26 Artists for 'Almost Unreal'
The upcoming second MUNCH Triennale, named 'Almost Unreal,' is scheduled to take place from 15 November 2025 to 22 February 2026 at MUNCH in Oslo. Curated by Tominga O’Donnell, the Senior Curator/Head of Contemporary Art at MUNCH, alongside Mariam Elnozahy, the Artistic Director of Konsthall C in Stockholm, this exhibition delves into the intersections of reality and virtuality, as well as the contrasts between outdated and modern technologies, and dystopian versus optimistic futures. Featuring works from 26 artists, it incorporates various technologies, including music boxes, holograms, and gaming engines. The title nods to Unreal gaming engines and the 1993 Super Mario Bros soundtrack by Roxette. Artists involved include Alice Bucknell, Ann Lislegaard, and others. MUNCH Director Tone Hansen highlighted the museum's dedication to contemporary art and emerging voices, with more information forthcoming.
