Multnomah County Central Library Renovation by Hennebery Eddy Architects
Hennebery Eddy Architects has successfully completed a significant renovation of the Central Library, located in downtown Portland, Oregon, which serves as the main library for Multnomah County. Originally built in 1913 in the Georgian style by A. E. Doyle, this building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979. The renovation modernized the facility while maintaining its historic essence. Almost half of the library's collection has been relocated to a new County Operations Center, enhancing visibility and offering varied seating options. New power outlets were added, with a restriction of two computers per table. Notable new spaces include a social services office, a relocated Friends of the Library store, a teen area, and a quiet living room, complemented by two new public terraces outside.
