Multiple Picasso Exhibitions Span Early and Late Works Across New York Institutions
The Phillips Collection is preparing to open a display of Pablo Picasso's early work. Earlier this spring, his mordant late works were presented in another exhibition. The Museum of Modern Art is currently showing a Picasso exhibition that will remain on view through February 7. A separate presentation of paintings described as bold and fearless will be accessible until October 24. The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum previously hosted a major Picasso survey from November 17, 2006, to March 28, 2007, at its New York location on 1071 Fifth Avenue. This exhibition was curated by the late Robert Rosenblum, who had also organized the museum's "1900" show in 2000. Another exhibition took place at Mitchell-Innes & Nash gallery in New York from May 3 to June 26, 2004. The artcritical website has announced the return of its Poetry for Art feature and expressed sadness over the death of its collaborator, poet and critic Bill Berkson. A critical perspective on Picasso's late period suggests it was marked by a diaristic expressionism that grew isolated from contemporary shifts. The artist Ogden was noted for work that channels anxiety and excitement through brush-on-canvas painting.
