Multiple New York Gallery Exhibitions Feature Julie Mehretu, Matthew Bollinger, Willard Boepple, and Joan Brown

A husband and wife team is collaborating at the Lincoln venue Fiendish Plots. David Cohen and Jennifer Coates are discussing exhibitions by artists Julie Mehretu and Matthew Bollinger. Axel Raben Gallery on West 26th Street features "Synthesis: Experiments in Collaboration." Joan Brown's "Painted Constructions" are displayed at George Adams Gallery on West 57th Street. Vincent van Gogh's painting *The Night Café* (1988), held at MoMA, is referenced in relation to themes of nightfall, loneliness, and anxiety. The work was described by the artist as depicting a place where dark forces lurked and suppressed passions could explode.
