Multimedia Exhibition on Amedeo Modigliani Opens in Caserta

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Following the success of Klimt Experience, a new interactive exhibition dedicated to Amedeo Modigliani (1884–1920) opens in the former Aeronautica area in Caserta. Spanning over 800 square meters, the show features four rooms including a VR headset room, a didactic lab, a 4K mega display, and a 360° screen arena projecting an immersive documentary on Modì's life and works with interviews and testimonies. The exhibition also addresses controversies around forgeries of Modigliani's works, referencing the 2017 Genoa exhibition at Palazzo Ducale closed three days early and the 1983 discovery of three fake sculptures in a Livorno canal. Sixteen key themes cover the artist's life: his birth in Livorno in 1884 to a Jewish merchant family, childhood pleurisy leading to travels with his mother to Rome, Naples, Capri, and the Pompeii Archaeological Park, studies at the Free Academy of Nude in Florence and Venice, and his relationship with muse Jeanne Hébuterne, who committed suicide pregnant eight months after his death. The exhibition uses 2D and 3D animations, motion graphics, and video mapping. It precedes a future show at the Reggia di Caserta on court life.
