MUDY: Dynamo Camp's first contemporary art museum opens in Fornaci di Barga
Dynamo Camp, a therapeutic recreational facility for children facing severe health challenges and inspired by Paul Newman’s SeriousFun Children's Network, has inaugurated its first modern art museum, MUDY, in Fornaci di Barga, Garfagnana. Founded in Italy by Enzo Manes in 2007, the camp is situated in the Dynamo Oasis at an elevation exceeding 1100 meters in the Pistoiese Apennines. Since 2009, the Dynamo Art Factory has welcomed artists for residencies with camp participants, resulting in over 2,000 artworks from more than 180 creators. Curated by Diva Moriani, who also leads the Fondazione Dynamo Arte, MUDY occupies a former school building from the 1930s, which served as KME's research center from 1987 to 2007. In partnership with KME, the museum will showcase 34 pieces from the Dynamo Art Gallery collection, featuring artists like Emilio Isgrò and Michelangelo Pistoletto. MUDY is designed to eliminate cognitive and physical barriers, with its public opening scheduled for May 2025, with specific hours yet to be confirmed.
