Mucho Mas! Non-Profit Space in Turin Champions Photographic Experimentation

Founded in Turin in 2018 by Luca Vianello and Silvia Mangosio, Mucho Mas! is a non-profit space dedicated to photographic experimentation. The gallery focuses on contemporary image-making and the evolving nature of photography, often intersecting with other media. It embraces what photographer Joan Fontcuberta calls "postfotografia" in his text "Furia delle immagini" — a photography challenged by digital and media saturation. Vianello and Mangosio prioritize novelty over tradition, believing photography must decode reality amid the flood of fast, insidious images. Artists represented include Luca Baioni, who revolutionizes photographic structures; Achille Filipponi, who negates photographic communication; and Sc_Nc, a Milanese duo that creates parallel worlds from forgotten sites. A collaboration with Villa Romana, presented at ArtVerona's LAB1 section curated by Giulia Floris, resulted in Uncoated-content, a platform by web designer Luca Zoccola fostering unmediated dialogues among artists. Mucho Mas! associates itself with experimentation, transformation, innovation, and independence, giving space to emerging, inexperienced practices. The small venue challenges curators to harmonize context and artwork, proving that limited space can contain immense meaning.
