MTA Architects Opens Innovation Lab in Chennai
MTA ARCHITECTS has completed the Innovation Lab, a satellite office in Chennai, India, designed as a workspace and client reception area. The 6,750 sq ft project, led by architects Ar Ramesh B and Ar Uma Shankar D, embodies the firm's construction philosophy using local materials, passive environmental strategies, and regional building traditions. The design concept merges culture and nature, drawing inspiration from the local climate, site, and available materials rather than imposing a predetermined form. The compound includes a garden with native species, a pool, and an outdoor area, integrating the building seamlessly into the landscape. Construction and skilled labor were provided by Aagaram Architects. The project was curated by Miwa Negoro and photographed by 0nebox photography.
