Mrzyk & Moriceau's 'L'Espion qui m'aimait' at Le Parvis
The exhibition 'L'Espion qui m'aimait' by Petra Mrzyk and Jean-François Moriceau at Le Parvis centre d'art contemporain in Ibos, France, runs from December 7, 2006 to January 27, 2007. The duo's black-line drawings proliferate across paper, wall-drawings, animation, and installation, creating an overwhelming, invasive presence. A central motif is a black-clad 'hardos en boots avec un gros derrière' relieving himself against a wall, whose spill transforms from a chaotic puddle into a hostile creature. Their work channels excess through expulsion, with figures driven by undefined fears and excitements. The monstrous imagery reflects human drama and comedy, never gratuitous. The exhibition is reviewed by Didier Arnaudet.
