Motus' 'Frankenstein (a love story)' Explores Solitude and Otherness at Triennale Milano

other · 2026-04-27

The Motus company, founded in Rimini in 1991 by Enrico Casagrande and Daniela Nicolò, brings their new production 'Frankenstein (a love story)' to Triennale Milano from November 22 to 26, 2023, after debuting at Arena del Sole in Bologna and appearing at Festival delle Colline Torinesi. The play, inspired by Mary Shelley's 1816 novel, centers on three solitudes: the creator Mary Shelley (played by Alexia Sarantopoulou), the creator Victor (Silvia Calderoni), and the creature (Enrico Casagrande), gendered female to embody fragility and contradictions attributed to women. The dramaturgy by Ilenia Caleo combines fragments from Shelley's novel, her biography, and works by Donna Haraway, Ursula Le Guin, and Lynn Margulis. The set features transparent plastic sheets, a sunflower, an armchair, colored markers, and a microphone, creating a suspended, dreamlike atmosphere. The tour continues in 2024: February 17 at Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara, Trento; March 2 at Teatro Galli, Rimini; March 9 at Teatro Koreja, Lecce; and April 6 at Teatro Kismet, Bari.
