Motel D Residency Launches in Milan for Multidisciplinary Creatives

Motel D, a multifunctional space in Milan that opened in April 2022, has launched Motel D Residency, a free three-month residency for artists, filmmakers, writers, and researchers. Curated by Edoardo De Cobelli, the residency aims to foster interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration. The first edition includes filmmaker and musician Tommaso Ottomano and the collective Il Salotto (Martina Camani, Francesco Pozzato, Fabio Ranzolin, Gianna Rubini). Residents have access to Motel D's facilities—meeting rooms, bar, recording studio, green screen—and technical support from Diorama, a digital reality studio founded by architects Gilberto Bonelli and Gianni Vesentini. The program includes talks, presentations, and social events rather than a traditional final exhibition. Motel D was founded by Roberto Cominetti, Gilberto Bonelli, Gigio Moratti, and Gianni Vesentini. Located at via Caldara 11/13 near Porta Romana, the space is part of a growing creative district that includes Fondazione Elpis (opening late October 2022) and Fondazione Prada.
