Moscow International Biennale for Young Art 2018: Abracadabra
The sixth edition of the Moscow International Biennale for Young Art (MIBYA), titled 'Abracadabra' and curated by Lucrezia Visconti Calabrò, features more than 100 artworks from global artists across five central Moscow locations: MMOMA, Rassvet district, AZ Museum, NCCA, and TSUM. Established in 2008, MIBYA is backed by the Russian Ministry of Culture and private sponsors, focusing on artists and curators aged 35 and under. This year's theme explores the nuances of performative culture in the 21st century. Highlights include 'All work and no play' by Svetlana Vorontsova, 'Voyager Return Trip' by Tomoyuki Ueno, 'Comet buried underground' by Martino Genchi, 'The darkest hour is just before dawn' by Vasilis Papageorgiou, and 'The wind blows where it wants to' by Bram de Jonghe.
