Moriyuki Ochiai Architects Translates Coastal Topographies into Chromatic Interior Landscape
Unveiling 'Chromatic Symphony of Landscapes,' Moriyuki Ochiai Architects has created an innovative interior environment and furniture system in partnership with a paint manufacturer known for its gradational coating techniques. This project embodies the colors and material characteristics of the Seto Inland Sea and Sensuijima Island within a spatial framework. The furniture showcases layered color gradients and textured surfaces inspired by coastal rock formations and geological layers. Arranged in diverse configurations, these pieces serve as both furniture and a topographical landscape, facilitating various uses such as sitting, gathering, and movement. The design team comprises Moriyuki Ochiai, Jun Ueda, and Chika Nakamura. Located in Tokyo, Japan, for client SIRIUS, construction was carried out by SIRIUS and 16build, with powder coating by CYUON, lighting by ITL, and photography by Daisuke Shima.
