Mori Art Museum Director and HAM Head to Curate 2027 Helsinki Biennial; Christie's Names New Asia Pacific President

Mami Kataoka, who leads the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, alongside Arja Miller, the director of the Helsinki Art Museum and the Helsinki Biennial, has been selected as the chief curators for the 2027 Helsinki Biennial. This event will be hosted at various locations throughout Helsinki, including HAM and the former military island Vallisaari. In September, Christie's revealed that Rahul Kadakia would assume the role of president for the Asia Pacific region starting January 2026. Kadakia, who has been with Christie's since 1996 and has experience in London, Geneva, and New York, is currently the international head of jewelry and will move to Hong Kong to manage Christie's Global Luxury and Asian & World Art Groups. Additionally, in September, Lebanese architect Lina Ghotmeh, based in Paris, was commissioned to create the Jadids' Legacy Museum in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. This will be her inaugural project in Central Asia, with the museum set to open in 2027, repurposing the former home of Usmon Khodjaev, a prominent Uzbek educator, journalist, and politician involved in the early 20th-century Jadid reform movement.
