Morcheeba and classical music for Turin's New Year's Eve double bill
Turin's New Year's Eve celebrations split into two distinct events. On December 31, Piazza Castello hosts a free concert headlined by Morcheeba, with Rose Villain, Malika Ayane (also co-host), Marco Maccarini, Davide D'Urso, Giøve, and Bass Monkeys (a new collaboration between Sweet Life Society and Ottoni Animati). The event, named 'Torino wasn't built in a day', is organized by Fondazione Reverse with E23 (Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino, Portici di Carta). After-parties will take place at clubs Supermarket, Nasty, Cap10100, Azimut, and OffTopic. The graphic identity is by street artist BR1. On January 1, 2025, a classical concert titled 'Torino in due atti' will commemorate the 160th anniversary of Italy's legislative unification (1865) and the 80th anniversary of the Liberation (1945), in collaboration with Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento and Museo Diffuso della Resistenza. Conceived by Paolo Gavazzeni (director of Classica HD) and publisher Piero Maranghi, the program features works by Rossini, Bellini, Verdi, Ponchielli, Giordano, Puccini, and Nino Rota, performed by Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino conducted by Marco Alibrando, with soloists Irina Lungu, Laura Verrecchia, Antonio Poli, and Ernesto Petti. Both events are free with mandatory reservation (€5 deposit for the first).
