Moooi's 25th Anniversary Exhibition and Polish Modernism Showcase at Milan Design Week

architecture-design · 2026-04-19

Moooi celebrates its 25th anniversary with an exhibition at Superstudio Più in Milan's Tortona district, featuring new works by designers including Yves Béhar, Roderick Vos, and Paul Cocksedge. The Dutch furniture company, founded in 2001 by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers, gained attention for unconventional designs like paper furniture and animal-shaped pieces. Vissers departed in 2016, leaving Wanders as creative director. A highlight is Pino, a seven-foot spinning illuminated Christmas tree created by Argentinian-born conceptual artist Andrés Reisinger, which incorporates LEDs in its trunk and plastic branches. Reisinger, based in Spain, described his approach as introducing minimal shifts to familiar objects to alter perception. The limited-edition tree will be displayed and for sale from Monday through April 26 at 27 Via Tortona. Separately, the Visteria Foundation presents 'Polish Modernism: A Struggle for Beauty,' an exhibition exploring modernism through Poland's 20th-century history at Torre Velasca, a restored Brutalist tower in central Milan. The show includes about two dozen historical and contemporary works, featuring chairs by designers such as Maria Chomentowska, Mati Sipiora, Teresa Kruszewska, and Jan Kurzatkowski. Milan Design Week serves as the backdrop for these events, highlighting design innovation and cultural narratives.
