Monza's Villa Reale to restore Ex-Borsa wing as cultural hub
The municipality of Monza has launched a restoration project for the Corpo Ex-Borsa, a historic building within the Villa Reale complex, which has been inaccessible since 2011. The €8.8 million investment, with €4 million from Regione Lombardia and €4.8 million from the city, aims to transform the space into a central education and culture hub within two years. The project will add classrooms, labs, evening courses, post-diploma programs, and open the internal library's specialized texts to the public. Mayor Paolo Pilotto announced the start of the works in a social media video, noting that debris accumulated over 20 years has been cleared. The restoration covers 3,200 square meters across two floors (12,000 cubic meters) and includes demolishing internal roofs, replastering, and philological restoration of the exterior. The building, adjacent to the royal palace, will regain its architectural character and serve as a multifunctional space for the city.
